Many American traders using US binary options brokers are finding it more and more difficult to trade their preferred assets due to restrictions resulting from the Dodd-Frank legislation. Trading volumes have declined precipitously on US regulated exchanges to virtually nil, while many non US binary options brokers have had no choice but to severely restrict asset choices for their US clients. Popularity of US Binary Options Brokers Dwindling The writing was on the wall when the Dodd-Frank legislation’s regulations had begun implimentation in July 2011, yet trading volumes on US binary options brokers dropped significantly in Q1 and by mid-March trading simply evaporated. One might point to potential causes of this trading volume decline as a result of declining popularity of the digital contract but in truth nothing could be further from the truth: binary options brokers overseas report significant popularity of their trading platforms. Double barrier options are trading in a few variations these days if you know where to look for them. Here we’ll take a look at several of the more common ways to play with double barrier options and discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of each type of contract. Our focus will be on the binary version of trading barrier options (see also where to trade barrier options). Inbound Double Barrier Options These contracts allow a trader to collect a 75% +/- yield when the underlying asset price at expiry is between a range of values. For example if a trader bought a contract on Google stock with a range of $515 to $520 and the price of Google stock at option expiration was $518.75 (which is what it is as I write this) then the contract would expire in the money and the trader would collect a 75% yield (depending on the individual contract – yield varies). Binary Call Options Appear to be the Order of the Day

Binary call options appear to be the order of the day today as forex markets showing strong risk positive signal on the minor currencies plus the Yen. Dollar strength versus a couple of major crosses appears to be the only thing holding back the major US indices from a stronger rally post retail market open. Thus far it appears to be shaping up as a binary call options day. We still expect a drop at some point this week and will be looking for opportunities to cap our binary hedge and double position with a binary put options position to offset this morning’s call. Markets Flip Negative in Afternoon Trading The good news was that binary options trading call positions earned about a 0.3-0.4% gap in the goldilocks zone before having to be capped with a binary put options position for the hedge and double trade.
