Stock Option Trading Software – Letting Automated Signal Callers Make Money

A Review of Online Option Trading Program OptionSmart

I have to admit I am leery of stock option trading software. I’ve always been a hands-on approach kind of guy when it comes to my investments. Problem is, the more my portfolio grows, the more time it requires to manage and monitor it. Even though online brokers have come a long way in terms of their ability to automate trading – either by using trade triggers or stop loss orders – each of those transactions has to be set up and used as discrete occurances. What this means is that while you may get your trade to execute while you’re in a business meeting – any subsequent transactions won’t be because they’re impossible to set up prior to getting your first trade executed.

Options Trading Is the Most Lucrative… and Most High Maintenance
One caveat. I LOVE options trading. Nowhere else can I get the most use out of my high priced financial education. When I see an opportunity in the options market… **BAM!!!** I am on it. The problem with trading options is that their performance has to be monitored continuously… and I simply can’t commit the time to doing that. I have actually had tears in my eyes as I had to forego opportunities I saw in the market because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to properly manage the trades over time. Sometimes I didn’t have the necessary capital to commit, and longed to have a way to participate in some of the higher capital trading arenas.

Enter the World of Automated Options Trading
Then I discovered a trading program called OptionSmart. I have to admit I like the idea of being able to participate in the options market without having the headaches of account management. I can’t necessarily trade the individual stocks and options and reap the ridiculously high returns I normally get, but on the other hand I can stay in the options market without all the high maintenance. Sometimes trading off a little in terms of returns is worth the ability to leverage the time and efforts of others. Also, the ability to pool resources allows participants the ability to take advantage of trading higher-capital requirement investment vehicles without putting in all the capital yourself. You know… it’s almost like an options trading mutual fund. You decide how much of your portfolio you want to allocate – $1000? $10000? Whatever and then pick your strategy (they offer 3) and either have them do the transactions themselves on your behalf or have them send trading signals to your email account.

Stock Option Trading Software Programs Aren’t for Everyone
I’m not going to advocate one way or another on the usage of online stock option trading software like OptionSmart. On the other hand it offers participation in what I call ‘big boy’ markets for ‘little man’ prices and provides the higher returns that one expects with higher risk endeavors. Again, while it may not have the same risk profile and legal restrictions of a mutual fund, it sure has a lot of the characteristics of one. Stock option trading software isn’t for everyone, but if you’re like me and like the returns of options trading but also would occasionally like to get to the beach… stock option trading software programs might be worth throwing 5-10% of your portfolio at.
